Course Overview

The goal of this CME activity is to update physician knowledge of current clinically-relevant research involving the diagnosis and management of patients with gastrointestinal disorders with an emphasis on inflammatory bowel disease. Additionally irritable bowel syndrome, screening for colorectal cancer, and chronic hepatitis will be addressed in detail. Interactive panel discussions are included in this program to demonstrate the proper application of knowledge to daily clinical practice. Dr. Stephen Hanauer, course chair, will be leading an experienced expert faculty from the University of Chicago Medical Center, Department of Gastroenterology.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of the activity, participants will be able to:
  • Review the most up-to-date scientific evidence for the management of patients with inflammatory bowel disease including biologic therapies
  • Describe practical medical solutions for patients with irritable bowel syndrome
  • Apply current guidelines to colorectal cancer screening
  • Incorporate recent scientific advances into the care of patients with chronic hepatitis

Primary Care Physicians, Internists, Hospitalists and Gastroenterologists.
